Thursday's Child: All about the rug

If I had a boy, this would totally be his room (have I said that before?). But really, I have almost that exact same rug!
I love how they took some things that are so trendy in the design world and put a childish spin on them! The giraffe and bear heads mounted on the wall are mimicking the animal head trend that I've been seeing a lot. The chandelier has a somewhat childish balloon shape but is spray painted, just like a ton of chandeliers I've seen all over design blogs. Gray walls are so popular right now, and are usually considered so chic and cool. But in this little boy's room, they just serve to make it more boyish, because I think white walls would have looked too girly. I also love that drummer boy painting - for some reason it reminds me of one of my favorite childhood books, Johhny Tremain
I seem to really gravitate towards the rooms that could be for an adult if you removed all the child paraphernalia. But maybe that's because they will age so well, and I won't have to spend all of my time redecorating kid's rooms.
What do you think?

  1. I like the gray walls with white door, trim, and curtains - they keep it from being too dark and depressing. I like almost everything about this room except the animal heads...I think sticking animal heads on your walls is creepy whether they are stuffed or not! But Johnny Tremain is one of my favorite books too...:-)
