Wasted time...

I now live in the most historic part of America (yes, yes unless you count Native American sites etc. But you know what I mean.)
I live here in this old part of the country, with so many places to go and things to do. And I feel guilty every time I am not out there, seeing something historic, visiting a museum or doing something "worthwhile." People keep telling me, "Don't waste that time! Make sure you see everything and visit every site you can!"
And while I know that I may not get to come back here for a long time, and I want to see everything and do everything, I don't always feel like site-seeing. Sometimes I crave the routine, the normalcy my life used to have. And so I'll admit, I'm not always out in the world adventuring. I see the sites and have adventures mostly on weekends, when Phillip is with me and we can learn and explore together.
During the week, I often "waste" time. I have watched television and read books and done yoga. I've cooked and done laundry and gone to Target. I've gone grocery shopping and gotten my car repaired. And I've had long, theological debates in coffee houses and stayed up way too late and gotten up even later.
Hopefully, my every day life still counts as something of an adventure.
Because I've wasted a lot of time.
And I've enjoyed every minute of it.

  2. Who determined what "wasted time" was?? It sounds like you're doing quite a bit, and honestly, a time will come when you will have little ones around that won't allow you to do anything but what they need done. Don't consider this time wasted, just enjoy the blessing God is giving you - which I think you are!!!
