When asked what my favorite color was, my husband quickly and cleverly replied "Peacock!"
A brilliant deduction, I thought, because I honestly can't decide what my favorite color is. It changes regularly depending on the season, the hues available, and my mood. But the gorgeous jewel tones represented in a peacock feather, royal blue, purple, green, teal, and gold, are definitely some of my very favorites, especially when they contain that shimmery iridescent quality.
I think it would be an interesting exercise to sit down and think about what objects in nature make you stop and stare and see if that translates to some of your favorite colors. For example, I love apple trees, so I could say my favorite colors are red and green? A dandelion would be yellow and green. A sunset can mean fiery orange and pink but also gorgeous blues, puffy whites, and pale purples.
What, in nature terms, is your favorite color?
I'll do a color-themed post for the person with the most creative answer!
When asked what my favorite color is, my husband replied "that smoky dark blue color the sky turns after sunset." Which is absolutely correct! (Isn't it romantic that our husbands know us that well, especially when our favorite colors are so much more complicated than "green" or "blue"?) I love that smoky, dark blue color in nature, the color of "twilight" (please don't anybody say the word vampire...!) between sunset and night...or would it be considered dusk? Whatever you call it, its so deep and beautiful and I can never find a truly accurate representation in man-made colors. If I could I would wear it!
ReplyDeleteWow, that particular sky always makes me think of the ink a squid squirts out, i.e. "an inky sky." I hope I didn't spoil it for you! It's really quite gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIs the contest already closed? One of my favorites is the "Irish green that's so green it hurts your eyes."
